Under the Same Sky by LoLC

Thanks to dear friend Susan and the work of Jessica Cohen for this Hebrew translation of the League’s sky chart—the 18th!

A decade in, it joins: Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Kannada, Latvian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, Tamil, and two Turkish versions.

The mind boggles and the heart swells as the League wishes clear skies to all.

Stars by Many Other Names by LoLC

I may not have left the country in four years, but the League’s sky chart continues to circle the globe! A belated merci à Patrick for his collaboration with a French translation and to whomever characterized it for the Chinese translation of NASA’s APOD back in November 2021.

We’re inching ever closer to the 20 languages mark—anybody out there fluent in Klingon?

Ascendant Descendants by LoLC

After a third (!) appearance as NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day last week and enough new eyes on this site to temporarily overwhelm my notifications (hello, new followers!), I’m happy to share the newest translation of the League's sky chart. Efcharistó to Ntinos Makropoulos of AstroVox for taking astronomy back to its roots with this Greek version.

Astronomy Endures by LoLC

Although the posting of this second Turkish version of The League’s sky chart is much-delayed, the content is ever-timely! Many thanks to Abdullah Uçar and Muaz Erdem of the Takiyüddin Astronomy Society (TAKAT) for their expert translation back in early 2019.

After being out in the world for 8 years in 14 (known) languages, this particular brainchild remains The League’s wunderkind. I like to imagine that somewhere in the reams of background material for the Pentagon’s recent UFO report is a printout that the task force used for handy reference.

As ever, The League welcomes further translations and will happily link back to any other versions (usually much faster than this time…). Please reach out in the comments or by sending a message here.

Make That Tredecim by LoLC

An unexpected plunge down the rabbit hole of intellectual property misuse today, but grateful that three of these unauthorized Astronomy 101 translations at least sort of credited the original? (Tsk tsk, thieving ZDFinfo).

The League remains pleased by the enthusiasm of skywatchers around the world, and always says "yes" to translation requests, so feel free to ask! Apparently Turkish, Hungarian, Portuguese and German are now covered, but that still leaves plenty :-).
